About the art
Each embroidery piece is handmade by Murriel Mapa, a fibre artist based out of Edmonton. Using a needle and thread, she is able to recreate recognizeable landmarks, pet portraits, and everything in between. Her pet portraits are made using a method called “threadpainting,” which uses long and short threads and many floss colours in order to create shadows and hues that capture small details.
